Zen provides Broadband Bonus at Wimbledon
23 June 2006: Zen Internet, a leading UK Internet Service Provider (ISP), has given Sportsworld, one of the world's leading providers of hospitality and travel based event solutions, their first broadband service at Wimbledon. An advantage point comes in the form of the high speed Office account that Zen is able to provide, giving the company download speeds of up to 8Mbps* at the event. This also has the potential to offer up to 832Kbps upload speeds.*
Sportsworld is officially appointed by The All England Club to sell corporate hospitality and international tours at the Wimbledon Championships. This is the first year that they have managed to track down a UK broadband provider with a temporary contract, and this will prove a major bonus at the event this year. Previous years have seen Sportsworld use an ISDN system which required a series of bundled channels to reach 256Kbps download and upload speeds. This resulted in higher costs due to the online call charges associated with ISDN and the quarterly contract system, which exceeded Sportsworld's required timeframe. The speeds were also proving restrictive compared to those which broadband can offer.
Now using the Zen connection Sportsworld can create an efficient remote office on site at Wimbledon, where staff can link back to the main office for communication purposes including access to the reservation system for clients, an essential part of the event management. Sportsworld will also allow Internet access for guests using a wireless router purchased from Zen and can therefore concentrate on keeping their clients comfortable and up to date with the latest scores, with the assurance of a high quality Internet connection and hardware.
The specialist Zen Events Team made the whole process run smoothly for Sportsworld, looking after the order and ensuring that the company's needs were met in advance of the event (for more information about Zen's specialist Events Team check out www.zen.co.uk/eventsteam).
"We have been very impressed with the excellent service provided by Zen’s Events Team and the temporary contract is a huge bonus!" commented, James Drinkwater, Sportsworld’s ICT Manager.
Iain Johnstone, Sales and Partner Programme Manager, Zen Internet, commented:
"We are pleased to be in the position to offer solutions for companies involved in high profile events such as Wimbledon. It is testament to the skill and hard work of the specialist Zen Events Team, who will be working on a range of major events this summer, including other sporting events such as the Ironman UK event through to music events such as the Leeds and Reading festivals."
* Customers' ability to receive the maximum upload and download speeds will be dependant on line quality and distance from the exchange.
