Character Options overcome Internet threats with Zen's Managed Network Security solution

Character Options designs, develops and internationally distributes toys and games as part of The Character Group plc, probably best known for their Robosapien and Doctor Who range of products. The Group now has offices in London, Manchester, Hong Kong and China, and employs over 230 people.

Character Options was experiencing problems with Internet viruses and found themselves at a stage where it was becoming necessary to look at outsourcing the management of their network security to a dedicated security specialist. Character Options also had issues tracking Internet usage and wanted the ability to manage and monitor Internet access.

TSG create a secure Wide Area Network with Zen's IP VPN

Technology Services Group (TSG) provides IT solutions to small and medium sized businesses. Specialising in Business and Accounting software, TSG employ over 500 staff in 12 locations across the UK.

Between 2003 and 2005 TSG experienced rapid growth through continued acquisition, focusing on acquiring companies that offered immediate access to key areas across the UK. Each TSG location had an ADSL circuit providing Internet access with on-site firewalls configured to create IPSec virtual tunnels over the Internet in order to create a basic Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Rochdale Association Football Club had reached a point where they needed to assess the connectivity on offer for journalists attending matches at the ground. The press and media present at the games required a reliable and stable Internet connection, but this was not being produced through the previous arrangement. The existing solution resulted in the journalists relying on their own individual Internet connections and laptops, which caused issues with speed and reliability.
